Per the Hollywood Reporter: The creator of the scifi series Sliders has died after complications from diabetes.

Tracy Tormé died on January 4th 2024 in Escondido, California. He was the son of the famous musician and composer Mel Tormé. I had talked to him on the phone on the evening of December 29th, 2023 less than a week before he died from his illness.

I thanked him yet again for creating Sliders, and we chatted about where we both live. He told me he and Cleavant Derricks talked often. I believe they were pretty close to one another. On occasion I texted him photos of my Sliders life. Meeting John Rhys-Davies and hanging my original props from the show. Tracy was shocked at how young I was when I watched the premiere in 1995. He was so nice he even asked me to text him with any questions I have.

They were still trying to bring back Sliders and attempting to get a Sliders Convention going. Within the past week I had been furiously putting together graphics, audio, and more to prepare an interview with him in a couple of weeks time. He told me someday he hopes he can see me face to face in person. His favorite episode was The Guardian because it captured the difficult times he was going through from his dad’s illness. He wrote this episode and it was his final episode of his work on Sliders.

I firmly believe we’ll see him again one day in a new world. I believe I was the last Sliders fan to talk to him. I feel that somehow, someway that was meant to be. My last words to him were “God bless you” and his last words to me were “God bless you.” The heart of Sliders is gone forever.
